1860 Federal Census

The Hickey family lived in Tilton, Whitfield County, Georgia. Patrick Hickey, 28, a Blacksmith and Mary Hickey, 35, and their three oldest daughters were reported as born in Ireland, but only Bridget, 8, born about 1852 and Ann, 7, 1953 were actually born there. Mary, 5, was born in Tennessee in 1855, so the family immigrated between 1853 and 1855. Two other daughters, Catherine, 2 and Hannora, 4 months, were also born in Tennessee.

1870 Federal Census

They now lived in District 15, Jefferson County, Tennessee. Patrick, 40 was a farmer and Mary, 40 kept house. Bridget, 18, also kept house but Ann and Mary were not living with them. They would have been about 17 and 15. Cattie, 12, and Hannah, 10 had a sister Ellen, 8, and a brother Charles, 6. William Blackwell, a farm laborer lived with them. Patrick owned $747 worth of real estate.

1880 Federal Census

The family was living in District 147 in Knoxville, Knox County, Tennessee, where they settled for good. Pat, 40, a Rock Mason and Mary, 40, keeping house had only three of their children still at home; Kate, 21, a cook, Hanna, 19, a nurse and Charls, 16, an office boy.

1910 Federal Census

Mary Hickey, 84, was widowed and living with her son Charlie and his family in Knoxville Ward 7, District 88, Knox County, Tennessee. Charlie, 47, was a Railroad conductor, his wife Joe H was 46. The census reports three daughters, but names them O'Connor, not Hickey, probably an error by the census taker. They are Neom (Naomi?), 20, Ruth, 17 and Esta (Ester?), 15. Charlie's nephew and niece also lived with them, Frank O'Connor, 19, a store clerk and Agnes O'Connor, 15, whose parents Michael and Hannah (Mary's daughter) both died when they were young.
