"A Genealogy of the Ipswich Descendants of Samuel Appleton", Vol. 2, p. 195, says that the previous marriage had involved a Sarah Frail (to Jacob Fellows) and this appears to be a recording error by the town clerk, based on the intention giving her a different name.
