  9. The farm was owned by Torlief Omtveit, a descendant, and he and his wife restored the home to its 1800's furnishings.
  10. The property was situated in one of the most picturesque and beautiful valleys or "Bygds" in Norway. It was here that the famous lecturer and author, Paul Du Choleau [Paul B. Du Chaillu] wrote his noted book, "The Land of the Midnight Sun."
  11. While there, they made cheese, herded the animals and picked wild berries. The men stayed on the farm where they hayed and took care of the other crops. The women also carded the wool and spun it into yarn.
  12. They bought Haugen and settled there.
