Nicholas Jennings married "Between 3 May 1643 and 2 August 1643 Margaret Poore alias Bedford (on 3 May 1643, 'Nicholas Gennings for committing fornication with Ma[r]gerett Bedforde was severely whipped, but his punishment for other misdemeanors respited until another court' [NHCR 1:88]; on 2 August 1643, '[f]orasmuch as it appeareth by the testimony of Lawrence Warde that Margerett Poore, alias Bedforde, now wife to Nicholas Gennings, was to be servant to Captain Turner, unto the full end and term of 4 years from the time of her first coming to him, but she running away with the said Nicholas, before the said term was expired, it was ordered, that the said Nicholas, her said husband, shall make satisfaction to Captain Turner (her said master), for that loss of time, according as it shall be arbitrated by Mr. Gregson and Mr. Wakeman, who are desired by the court to do the same. And the said Nicholas is to make 2 fold restitution for those things which are confessed by them to be stolen from the said Captain Turner' [NHCR 1:105])."
