  2. Source:Child, Hamilton. Gazetteer of Orange County, Vt., 1762-1888, Part 1, p. 331, names Nathaniel's wife as Lydia Salter. It is easy to imagine Foster in colonial writing, with the f-shaped 's', being misread as Salter. The age at death on her gravestone shows a birth about 1772. There is a Lydia Foster, b. Newbury, VT, 1770, s/o Reuben Foster and Hannah Bailey. No appropriate Lydia Salter has been located. More research is needed.
