Nathaniel Gage m. Mary (Weeks Green, widow of Thomas Green of Malden. Her will, dated 8 Jul 1738, mentions sons Nathaniel Gage and John Green; daughters Elizabeth wife of Samuel Palmer and Mary wife of Benjamin Thurston.

  2. Source:Anderson, Robert Charles. Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1633, in its article on John Gage, says about Nathaniel's wife: "She is said to be Mary (Weeks) Green, widow of Thomas Green of Malden [Gage Gen 67], but the evidence is not seen."

Anderson does not explain the will cited in S1. While Nathaniel and Mary are Gage children, that leaves John and Elizabeth unaccounted for. There is the birth of a daughter Elizabeth born Dec 1689 to Thomas and Mary Green in Malden. The widow of Samuel Palmer died in Bradford in 1774 in her 85th year, which calculates to a birth in 1690. There is no recorded birth of a son John to Thomas and Mary Green, but unless another Gage daughter turns up who married a John Green, it would seem likely that his naming in the will indicates that Mary had a previous husband named Green.

On top of the will, Thomas Green d. Malden 28 Apr 1693 [gravestone says 1694] age 42. This places his birth about 1651-2, which makes him about the same age as Nathaniel Gage, meaning it would be appropriate for Green's widow to marry Nathaniel Gage. The Gage's first child is born 15 Apr 1696, suggesting a marriage in 1695, which matches the death of Thomas Green nicely.

So while this may not be considered strict proof, unless it is demonstrated that neither Elizabeth or John are children of Thomas Green, it seems it is pretty likely that Nathaniel Gage did marry Thomas Green's widow.
