FAIRFIELD, Nath[anie]l, of Wehnahm, and Mary Stephens [Stevens. int.], at Wenham, Apr. 25, 1734.
↑Source:Fairfield, Wynn Cowan. Descendants of John Fairfield of Wenham, Massachusetts, p. 15, claims Nathaniel's last wife is widow of Joseph Stevens. No secondary source covering the Stephens in detail has yet been located. It could be Mary Fry the wife of Joseph Sr. since he is called Joseph of Salem and his son is Joseph of Beverly, or it could be Mary Millet, wife of Joseph Jr. who is perhaps more appropriate age-wise. There is a probate of Joseph Stevens of Salem (Essex Probate 26380) dated 15 Mar 1734 but containing documents dated as early as 1730, administered by the widow Mary Steevens. But it is hard to tell which Joseph Stevens this might be (perhaps documents from both?) The administratrix (bond dated 15 Mar 1733 with Nathaniel Fairfield as surety) is called Mary Stevens as late as 26 Apr 1734 when she made oath to the inventory and May 11 1734 when her account was approved.
