Curtis, Nathaniel, m. Mrs. Phebe Palmer, Oct. 1, 1741, by Capt. William Gould, of Branford [8:34].
- ↑ Jacobus says that Nathaniel Curtis married, 01 October 1741 per Wallingford Vital Records, Phebe Bartholomew widow of Micah Palmer. Micah Palmer married, 05 March 1741, Phebe Bartholomew (Branford VR, Ricker:924). Micah and Phebe Palmer had son, Rufus, born 09 November 1744 (Branford VR, Ricker:9572). Unless there were two Micah Palmer wives named Phebe, the Phebe who married Nathaniel Curtis was not Phebe Bartholomew. Phebe Baldwin, mother of the Phebe Bartholomew born 15 October 1718, died, as widow of Benjamin, 26 February 1760 (Branford VR, Ricker:924). It would appear that there was no Phebe Bartholomew available to become the third wife of Nathaniel Curtis. The Wallingford VR, Ricker:3690, says “Nathaniel, mar Mrs. Phebe Palmer, 1 Oct 1741, by Capt. William Gould of Branford - Wallingford VR.” There was one available Phebe Palmer, daughter of John and Phebe (Potter), born 02 April 1694 (Branford VR, Ricker:9569) who had apparently never married. This is by no means certain, but seems the best solution.
