  2. That this marriage occurred is confirmed by record, but this identification of husband and wife follows secondary literature, primarily, Source:Hammond, Charles. History of Union, Conn, p. 354 and 380, though evidence confirming the assertions there have not been found.
Rebecca is assumed to be the sister of Nathan Kinney who came from Sutton to Union, and based on her age, Rebecca is assumed to have married Nathan Hiscock Jr., not Nathan Hiscock Sr., though this is not distinguished in the marriage record. Note that the distribution of the estate of Nathan Jr. names wife Mary (note: not mentioned by History of Union), and the marriage to Lydia Town may be him instead of his father. So this implies Rebecca predeceased Nathan Jr. who died in 1812, and possibly died before 1775 when some Nathan Hiscock married Lydia Town (assumed to be the father since described as from Union, CT).There are no births to help confirm any of this, so the secondary sources are asserting facts not in evidence.
The History of Union says Nathan was killed by his insane son Robert. This actually seems questionable as Robert is given part of his father's estate, and then later named in is sister Lydia's will. More research is necessary to determine the basis of this assertion.
