Land Records, P. 264] May 9, 1727: "Micah Smith of Hempstead in Queens Co., yeoman, and Phebe his wife, one of ye daughters and legatee of Richard Thorne late of ye same place, yeoman, dec'd." quitclaimed some land formerly her father's. "Whereas the said Richard Thorn, did by his last will and testament appoint his well beloved wife Phebe Thorn the sole executrix thereof, and whereas ye sd. Phebe, after the death of her sd. husband, to wit, on or about ye 19th day of March in the year 1707, intermarried with one Robert Mitchel of Hempstead, yeoman; and further, whereas the sd. Robert Mitchel and ye sd. Phebe his wife, Executrix as aforesaid, intending to increase ye estate of sd. Phebe ye daughter, did on or about ye 20th of Mch., 1715, sell unto ye sd. Thomas Baxter the above mentioned land".
