I never knew any Dowells were in Maury Co Tn. I was researching another line in the loose records archives in Columbia TN and ran across this info. I copied it because I have a Dowell line (that will forever remain a mystery it seems.) Hope this helps someone. It is a copy of a marriage license. State of Tennessee, Maury County These are to authorize you or either of you, to solemize the rites ofMatrimony between Major C Dowell and Mary S. Booker of your county, agreeably to the direction of an act of assembly in such case made and provided, providedalways that the said Mary S Booker be an actual resident in this county.
