Note that this book conflates the marriage of Louis Canuel (b. 1715) and Marie Proulx with the marriage of Louis Canuel (most likely the son of the elder Louis Canuel) and Francoise Proulx. Since Marie Barbe was baptized when Marie Proulx was well over 50, it is much more likely that these were 2 separate marriages. The latter marriage possibly was not properly recorded, or the record has been destroyed.
↑ No marriage record has been found for this marriage, but the baptism record of their son Zacharie says he was born of the legitimate marriage for Louis Canuel and Francoise Proulx. Their son was baptized at the age of nine months during a mission, which may explain the lack of a record of the marriage of this couple.
