Alice and her husband did not get along and Alice was going to file for divorce. However, before she got the chance her husband was struck by lightening and killed. Shortly after her 2 year old child drowned in a canal near where her husband died. A few months later she gave birth to another child who died for days after birth. She spent her life as a school teacher in Provo. She began teaching kindergarten at Joaquin Elementary School the year it opened. (Joaquin closed in 2006). Before she died Alice said, "Don't you dare seal me to my husband!"
