They were not married.They had a child together, who was conceived around February 1900. They were also living together in 1915. at Calle de Ayala, Num 20, Piso Segundo in Madrid. His 1910 Padron list him as single, his occupation was military veteran who drew a pension of 3000 pesetas. He was not living with Carolina at that time.
