Josiah Blood & Mary Tory were marryed together February ye 3d day 1690.1.

  2. The marriage record says "Mary Tory", and Shattuck, p. 368, calls her "Mary Thomas", so New England Marriages, calls her "Mary TORY/[THOMAS?]". Various secondary sources (e.g., Source:Torrey, D. Contribution Toward a Genealogy of All Torreys in America, p. 8, apparently relying on Source:Potter, Charles Edward. Genealogies of Some Old Families of Concord, Mass, p. 6, even the relatively new Source:Harris, Roger Deane. Story of the Bloods) identify her as the daughter of James Torrey and Anna Hatch of Scituate, b. 14 Feb 1656/57. This would make her 34 at the time of marriage, making it unlikely she was the one who then mothered 11 children, the last in 1712 when this Mary Torrey would have been 55! Rather, Source:Torrey, Frederic C. Torrey Families and Their Children in America, p. 41, and even New England Marriages, say this particular Mary Torrey married Samuel Humphrey of Weymouth and Rhode Island, having children together until 1693, most likely ruling her out.
