Source:Vital records of Athol, Massachusetts, to the end of the year 1849 shows another possible marriage record: "Raymond, Anna and Benjamin Powers of Petersham, Nov. 1, 1786". One could speculate this is why the Source:Genealogies of the Raymond families of New England, 1630-1 to 1886 : with a historical sketch of some of the Raymonds of early times, their origin, etc. qualified this marriage with "prob." This 1786 marriage is probably the "Raymond, Anna, d. Freeborn and Mary, [born] March 17, 1768" who would not have been old enough to marry in 1775, the date given on this page. This is confirmed by inspecting the names of the Ballard children, which include children named Edward and Abigail after the older Anna's parents.
