    Summons to Sarah Scott of Northampton County, Province of North Carolina, to appear in court to answer petition of Nehemiah Scott, Joseph Scott, and William Scott, sons of Joseph Scott, late of the Province of North Carolina...and of Thomas Pugh and Mary his wife, daughter of sd. Joseph Scott, dec'd...and of Samuel Webster and Anne, his wife, daughter of sd. Joseph Scott...of William Pool and Sarah his wife, daughter of sd. Joseph Scott...and of Benja. Scott and John Scott, sons, and Elizabeth Scott, daughter of sd. Joseph Scott, dec'd., minors. Sarah Scott summoned to appear at next court. Recorded at New Bern, 25 March 1753. Answer of Sarah Scott, widow of Joseph Scot, dec'd. to petition of Nehemiah Scot et al. She admits that all goods and chattels of Joseph Scot, dec'd, have been committed to her. A true and complete inventory is annexed, and she prays that the same be made part of her answer. She states that she has fully administered the estate of the decedent. Respondent absolutely denies that she made any gains or profits by the estate of sd. Joseph Scott, dec'd. She says that what few slaves decedent possessed she was obliged to sell for payment of his debts.
    Two inventories: (1) Northampton County, recorded Aug Ct. 1752, estate of Joseph Scott valued at 17,357 pounds; (2) Bertie County, recorded 12 June 1751, no amount given. Record of a large estate sale is given.
