    "Joseph Ripley was b. 25 Jan 1666-7 in Hingham, and his father dying 11 Oct. 1683, and his mother marrying a second husband the next year, when he was a minor, he was placed under the care of a guardian and when twenty years old is found residing in Dartmouth, Mass. following the trade of a carpenter and housewright. After a residence of about six years there he came to E[dgartown] (1700), where he m. Sarah Jenkins (20). Here he lived for the rest of his life and d. in the early part of 1726. His will 22 Feb. 1726 was pro. July 1726 and names" children Sarah, Abraham, Mary, Abigail, Eleanor, Peter, Hepsibah, and Keturah.
