REED, Joseph and Sarah Rice, Nov. 26, 1723. [Nov. 17, MR]
Source:Daniels, George F. History of the Town of Oxford, Massachusetts, p. 661, says there was an earlier son John, b. Sudbury 1724 who d. young. This is not found in the published records, so has not been included here. It may be true, however, as it is not uncommon when a child dies near to birth, for it to be followed by a year later by another sibling (Bethia), whereas surviving children tend to require two years spacing in typical cases. So, for example, Source:Reed, Jacob Whittemore. History of the Reed Family in Europe and America, p. 78, puts General James Reed in this family, b. 1724, which seems unlikely (which is not surprising as Reed has a horrible reputation, and has other major errors and omissions in this family as well.)
