On 7 May 1727, Joseph and Patience Day and their children to date are "recognized" (the children are baptized) in the First Church of Wells, Maine. This probably relates to when Joseph and Patience settled in Wells.

Land Transactions

Joseph Day of Wells to Henry Maddocks of Wells. Maddocks had transferred to Day, 4 acres & 68 rods, and Day gave Maddocks the right to 10 acres of meadowland granted to Day by the town of Wells (but Maddocks has to find a place to lay out the 10 acres that doesn't encroach on someone else). Patience Day agrees to give up her interest as well. Signed 19 Feb 1722/23, recorded 24 Dec 1734. Book XVI Fol. 273. S4

Joseph Day of Wells to Sam.l Jefferds. Transfers any remaining right he may have to land on the south side of the North Branch of the Little River, a portion of the 10 acres granted to Day from the town of Wells. As the majority of the land Day had laid out for the 10 acres turned out to be already claimed by someone else, and as Samuel Jefferds is about to lay out 100 acres on the south side of the North Branch of the Little River, Joseph (and Patience) release any interest in the southern side (as the remainder portion of his 10 acres is too small "only which will not be worth my while ever to take any Pains with to bring too & Fence and also in as much as my Title is precarious because I have not fulfilled the Conditions of the Grant..." Signed by Joseph and Patience 10 Jan 1727/28 and recorded 2 Mar 1733. Book XVI Fol. 88 S3
