  2. There does not appear to be a record of this marriage. Jonathan's previous wife is said by Lucius Paige, Source:NEHGR, p. 27:309, to have died 1 Nov 1683, soon after the birth of son Dudley, who was born 18 Oct 1683. Source:Anderson, Robert Charles. Great Migration Begins: Immigrants to New England, 1620-1633, p. 1886, says this marriage was "say 1687". But he does not list the children or give an explanation. Lucius Paige doesn't give a marriage date, but shows 2 daughters: Elizabeth, b. 1687; Dorothy, b. 17 Feb 1689. It is not clear how Paige decided Elizabeth was the oldest. If Paige's 1689 date was accepted for Dorothy's birth, since Jonathan d. Nov. 1689, it would probably represent an assumption of a two-year gap and would probably only make sense to place Elizabeth first with an estimated date of 1687. This would suggest the marriage was as early as 1686. However, Source:Medford, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States. Vital Records to the Year 1850, p. 157, has a birth for Dorothy on "Feb. 7, 1687-8" and no birth for Elizabeth. This birth date for Dorothy would no longer require Elizabeth to be the oldest, and if Dorothy b. 1687-8 was the oldest, a marriage in 1687 makes sense. However, if Elizabeth was the oldest, her birth would probably be in the 1685-6 timeframe, suggesting the marriage was as early as 1685.
