  2. This is fairly speculative. Jonathan Johnson's 3rd wife died 1798. None of the secondary sources seem to list a fourth wife. However, his will, written Dec 1800, over 2 years after his wife had died, clearly mentions a wife, indicating there was fourth one. The marriage to Eunice Cox is the only marriage found that falls in that short interval between 1798 and 1800, and nothing has been found, such as the births of some children etc., to suggest that this marriage belongs to somebody else. Nothing in the probate file appears to provide the name of the wife. It is assumed, based on Jonathan's age, that Eunice would have been a widow, but no likely candidate of any kind has been identified. She presumably is the Eunice Johnson, widow of Lynn, who on 13 Dec 1809 buys land from Joseph Moulton (Essex Deed 191:134) and sells it on 10 Apr 1813 to Richard Mansfield (Essex Deed 199:248), though no useful information is seen in these deeds.
