Elaborate History and Genealogy of the Ballous in America (329876), p. 302, quotes extensively from a letter written by Alonzo Kingsley, Lydia's son by her first marriage, about his step-siblings. He mentions a brother David who died age 2, but who is not found in the records, and he mentions no sister or twins. It seems likely he would be in a position to know. The family register is actually found on p. 466 of the town records, misnumbered 464, here and contains no Samantha, just the two sons James Madison Eddy and Lauriston Eddy, indicating that Samantha was a misreading of Lauriston.
