DISPUTE: This marriage between John Williams & Abigail Rose is not supported by records. What proof is there that John William's wife Abigail Clark, wife of John is not the Abigail who passed away in Middletown in 1732? The Marriage index shows that Abigail Clark, widow of John who married John Williams in 1703 died in 1731. It does not say that he married Abigail Lattemore. John married Elizabeth Whitmore, widow of Daniel Clark & William Savage in 1733 and he died in 1735. Elizabeth mentions in her will she is the widow of John Williams of Middletown. She died in 1743.

Further, a New Haven land deed in Volume 10, page 398 shows that John Williams and wife Abigail, Ambrose Clark, Cheney Clark, Edward Jackson and Eunice his wife, regarding land Abigail received of her mother Hope Lamberton from her father George Lamberton's estate on 27 February 1728/9, so Abigail Ambrose Clark Williams was still married to John Williams and then died in 16 Jan 1732 most likely, and not Abigail Rose as John seems to have married Elizabeth Whitmore before his death not another Abigail.
