"Waller, … John, s. Mary, bp. Nov. 14, 1697; reputed father Jno Thomas [1:22]"
- Mary Waller had a natural child John Thomas/Waller with one John Thomas being the father. Mr. Richardson says that this Mary married one John Thomas of New Haven. He may have made the connection through one or more of the deeds cited to identify the second husband of Mary (Tinker) Waller as Mr. Stancliff, not Mr. Smith. Those deeds are listed in footnote 120 on page 149:243; Lyme Deeds, 5:278, 5:280, 5:363, 6:42, 6:43, 6:256, 7:148, abstracts of which were kindly supplied to the writer by Virgil Huntley of Mystic, Conn., …" Also note that Mary's mother was residing with Mr. Stancliff in Middletown at the time the illegitimate child John was born.
