Probable granddaughters: Ida Savage and Julia Savage

The 1870 census record indicates that John's wife Catherine was 41 years old (born about 1829)[1]. The 1880 census record indicates that she was 65 years old (born about 1815)[2]. Thus, she was clearly older than John and it is possible that she was Catherine Benson, born about 1820. As such, it would have been possible for her to be the mother of all their known children other than Ida (born about 1878) and Julia (born about 1879). These last 2 children appear to be known only from the 1880 census, in which they are both listed as "daughter", but are more likely granddaughters - regardless of the year Catherine was born (1815, 1820 or 1829), she would have been too old to be their mother.
