- ↑ Some people think John married Sarah Winslow (Anna/Nancy's sister). Clearly the ages of various children rules out marriage to a woman born 1788. Neither do any censuses shows a wife of this age. It apparently originates to the misidentification of Zebulon Winslow Niles' mother on his death record. While Zebulon's mother would appear to be a daughter of Zebulon Winslow, identification as Sarah is probably confusion of the death record informant with Zebulon's first wife. No record concerning John shows a wife Sarah, rather John's wife is variously named Anna or Nancy, and her age at death aligns with Anna Winslow.
