20 May 1849. John Mellor, full [age], bachelor, clothier, of Burnlee, son of Andrew Mellor, cloth deeper [dealer?]
married Jane Batty, full [age], spinster, of Burnlee, daughter of George Batty, dyer.

  2.   It would appear that both Jane and John parented a child before their marriage in 1849. Civil registrations in Huddersfield yielded a number of John Mellors, but none linked to local church records. Andrew may have been their child, his second given name was Batty. There was a baptism in Holmfirth matching the civil registration, but the parents were Samuel and Betty Mellor.
