Although the certificate does not say precisely where the Register Office was, the only Register Office operating in Surrey North Eastern district at that time appears to have been the Kingston Register Office, which was located at 35 Coombe Road in the Norbiton area of Kingston upon Thames. The Surrey North Eastern registration district had been created in 1934 when the former Richmond and Kingston districts merged, and newspaper articles record the closure of the Richmond Register Office at that time.
