John Macgowan, son of James Macgowan and Elizabeth, his wife, was born October 23, 1726, and married to Esther Rigby, daughter of James and Esther Rigby, of St. Helen's in Lancanshire, on August 18th, 1766 [sic], in the parish Church of Warrington. ...

[cos1776 note: States marriage date was 1766, but then goes on to list children's births from 1756 to 1762 and wife Esther's death in 1762, which leads me to believe that the date is likely a typo for 1755. We'll probably never know for sure, since this source indicates that John MacGowan tore out the page from the original parish register.]
