    He married at Edinburgh, on 23 June 1635, Janet, elder daughter of Bartholomew Fleming of that city, who shared her husband's exile, and who also died and was buried in Rotterdam in February 1693-4.

    XIII. The Reverend John Livingston, Minister of Ancrum, had the following children:-
    1. John, born at Iron-furnace of Milton, Co. Down, Ireland, 30 June 1636; died at Stranraer, Wigtown, Scotland, 8 January 1639, and buried in Inch churchyard.
    2. William, born at Lanark, 7 January 1638; married Ann Veitch, 23 December 1663; died at Edinburgh, and was interred in the Greyfriars' burialground, 12 June 1700. He left surviving issue.
    3. Bartholomew, born at Stranraer, 3 September 1639; died 24 September 1641, and buried at Inch churchyard.
    4. Agnes, born at Stranraer, 20 September 1640; died 17 October 1641, and buried in Inch churchyard.
    5. Marion, born at Stranraer, 10 October 1642; married Reverend John Scott, minister at Hawick, Roxburghshire, 28 September 1658; died at Hawick in July 1661 (?1667), and buried in Hawick churchyand.
    6. Janet, born at Stranraer, 28 September 1643; married Andrew Russel, merchant in Rotterdam, Holland, and had issue.
    7. John, born at Stranraer, 20 August 1644; died there in October 1645, and buried in Inch churchyard.
    8. Agnes, born at Stranraer, 18 August 1645; married David Cleland, Chirurgeon, at Edinburgh, 6 June 1676; died -.
    9. James, born at Stranraer, 22 September 1646; married twice; his second wife, Christian Fish, on 15 August 1683; died at Edinburgh, and was interred in the Greyfriars' burial-ground, 4 June 1700. He was the father of Robert Livingston, 'The Nephew'.
    10. Joanna, born at Stranraer, - September 1647; died at Ancrum in October 1648, and buried in Ancrum churchyard.
    11. Barbara, born at Ancrum, 21 June 1648; married James Millar or Miller, merchant, and had issue; died -.
    12. John, born at Ancrum, 24 June 1652; died at same place, 12 October 1652, and buried in Ancrum churchyard.
    13. Andrew, born at Ancrum in August 1653; died 7 February 1655, and buried in Ancrum churchyard.
    14. Robert, born at Ancrum, 13 December 1654. He was the founder of the Manor of Livingston, New York.
    15. Elizabeth, born at Ancrum, 7 January 1657; died at Rotterdam, Holland, 31 October 1666, and buried in the Zuiden churchyard of that city.
