John, son of Dr. William Hooker [49], and Phoebe (Davis) Lee, born at DeWain's Bush NY, Aug. 25, 1793, married Mary Caughell, of Yarmouth, Ont., in 1817. He was never brought to trial, but was liberated and restored to citizenship.
"It is a matter of record, that questions tending towards relief, which were agitated at the time, were, later, incorporated into the demands made by the people for reforms in governmental affairs, and that the liberal form of governmant, now enjoyed throughout the Dominion is, in a measure, largely due to their efforts."
