Per the indenture between John Jackson and his wife, Rebecca, Ambrose, his brother (all of Prince George County) on the one part and Ralph Jackson of Surry County on the other, John Jackson, father of John Jackson and Ambrose Jackson must have died before 1713, likely in Prince George County. [Prince George County, Virginia Colony, was formed in 1703 from the portion of Charles City County south of the James River. As such, it is likely that both John Jackson Jr. and his brother, Ambrose Jackson Sr. were born in Charles City County.]

Ralph Jackson is not identified as a son of this John Jackson Sr. He could be the Ralph Jackson whose will was made 15 January 1743/44 in Brunswick County. Or, alternatively, Ralph Jackson, son of Thomas Jackson Sr. whose will was made 15 August 1751 in St. Andrew's Parish, Brunswick County.
