    '[?] Johannes Hierstein, b. c1740. He was a Mennonite who was accepted at Neuwied, Rheinland in 1767. He was living in the household of his brother Jacob at Neuwied in 1767. He is not found in any records at Neuwied after 1767. He may be the Johannes Herstein who arrived in Philadelphia on the ship "Union" on 27 Sep 1773. He married Catherina Schantz, daughter of Mennonite Jacob Schantz of New Hanover Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania on 10 May 1780.'
