1910 Census (Willow Hill Township)

All members of the household were white. They are living on rented farm property (farm schedule 85).

(Head) John C. Ferguson, 35 year old male farmer born in Illinois.  His father was born in Illinois and mother in Indiana.
(Wife) Stella (Ferguson), 31 year old female born in Kansas.  Her father's birthplace is unknown and her mother was born in Illinois.
     This is the second marriage for John and first for Stella.  The couple have been married for 6 years.
     Stella has had one child, who remains living.
(Daughter) Edna (Ferguson), 13 year old schoolgirl born in Illinois.  Both of her parents were born in Illinois.
(Son) Murl (Ferguson), 11 year old schoolboy born in Illinois.  Both of his parents were born in Illinois.
(Step-son) Berl Whitmarsh, 7 year old schoolboy born in Illinois.  Both of his parents were born in Illinois.

Stella looks to have had a child out of wedlock, and none of the children in the household are biologically her offspring.

1920 Census (Willow Hill Township)

All members of the household were white. The family lived on rented farmland (farm schedule 68).

(Head) John Ferguson, 45 year old male farmer born in Illinois.  His father was born in Illinois and mother in Indiana.
(Wife) Stella (Ferguson), 41 year old female born in Kansas.  Her father was born in New York and mother in Illinois.
(Son) Myrl (Ferguson), 21 year old single male farm laborer born in Illinois.  Both of his parents were born in Illinois.
(Son) Burl (Ferguson), 17 year old schoolboy born in Illinois.  His father was born in Illinois and mother in Kansas.
(Daughter) Thelma (Ferguson), 4 year old female born in Illinois.  Her father was born in Illinois and mother in Kansas.

In this case, Berl/Burl has gone from step-son to son and is apparently Stella's son by another father.

1950 Census (Robinson)

All family members were white.

(Head) John Ferguson, 75 year old male church janitor born in Illinois.
(Wife) Stella (Ferguson), 70 year old female born in Kansas.
