"It is erroneously stated in the Dedham Records, Vol. 1, p. 12, that he married Mary Whiting. Mary was Hannah's sister, born 12 : 8 mon. 1658. See Hannah Whiting's will, Suffolk Probate Records, Lib. 18, Fol. 396."
[Note: Lib. 18, Fol. 396 is the will of Hannah's mother, dated 1711. A transcript may be found in the Whiting Genealogy, p. 11: it mentions daughter Hannah Fairbanks and contains no mention of a daughter Mary. The list of children includes two daughters named Mary, the first obviously dying young, and the second being the one referred to by the Fairbanks Genealogy, and she apparently also died young. Also, Hannah is the name of the mother in John Fairbank's children's birth records.]
