1900 Census

In 1900, John S and Abbie P Deering live in Ward 2 of Bath, Sagadahoc, Maine. There are no street addresses in this portion of the census. However, Ward 2 is in Bath's South End. John S is 74 (born April 1826); his wife is 64 (born June 1835). They have been married for 35 years. Both John and Abbie and their parents were born in Maine. • Carrie A Sprague, 24 and single, born in Maine, with no occupation listed.
• Joseph Boyle, 46 and married, born in Ireland (immigrated in 1885). Joseph is a moulder.
• William Smith, 23 and single, born in New York. He is a boiler maker.

1910 Census

In 1910, John S and Abbie Deering live at 647 Washington Street in Ward 2 of Bath, Sagadahoc, Maine. (This is now part of the Bath Iron Works). John Deering is 82; his wife is 74. For both, their current marriage is their second marriage. This census indicates Abbie has had 5 children and 4 are now living; either this is a different Abbie Deering (and John S has married a 2nd woman named Abbie), or either the 1900 or 1910 census is in error.
