p. 141.
Persons Married by Daniel parker Esq'r as followeth ... John Crocker and Mary Hinckly June 22 : 1721
- ↑ Note that Source:Otis, Amos. Genealogical Notes of Barnstable Families has confusing coverage of this marriage. On p. 1:211 and again on p. 2:37, Person:John Crocker (2) is said to have m. (2) 22 Jun 1721 Sarah Hinckley, even though the marriage record on that date says Mary. On p. 1:211, this is corrected to say 11 Nov 1711 to Sarah Hinckley, but no such record is found in the vital records, only an annotation added by Hinckley. On p. 1:239, this John Crocker m. 22 Jun 1721 Mary Hinckley, matching the name and dates of a marriage record found in the Vital Records.
Source:Roser, Susan E. Early Descendants of Henry Cobb of Barnstable, Massachusetts, p. 78, discusses Mary Hinckley, d/o Benjamin Hinckley and Sarah Cobb, b. 3 Oct 1696. It says "the only marriage that could be attributed to Mary" is the marriage to John Crocker in 1721. The only problem is the death of Mary Crocker in 1744, ae. 57 [age 56 according to Otis], is ten years off from the birthdate "if the age is correct". According to Otis, the death information comes from the gravestone but Find A Grave has no gravestone image, so it is unknown if there is such a grave, or if Find A Grave is simply parroting what Otis said.
