Birth dates of children

The birth dates of the children, particularly Daniel and Amos, are very close together, suggesting there may be errors in the dates, and/or that some of the children may be the same person. Homer's age in the 1910 census suggests he may been born a few years earlier than stated in the 1900 census.

In the 1900 census, Rosetta says she had 6 children living. Two of these would be David and Coleman Duncan and another 3 would be Homer, Clarence and Daniel, listed with her in the 1900 census. This leaves Frank Booth, known from his death record to be her child. Clarence and Daniel, listed in the 1900 census don't show up in later records. Various possibilities exist, including:

  • Amos was born after the 1900 census
  • Amos was the same person as Daniel B Booth - renamed after the 1900 census (renaming young children was not unheard of)
  • There was another Duncan child not yet found and Frank was the same person as Clarence and Amos was the same person as Daniel
