  2. Source:Bent, Allen Herbert. Bent Family, Four Generations in America, p. 16, says, "John had no children by his second wife, who survived him." His article in NEHGR, Vol. 48, p. 289, says, "The three children are by the first wife". He then shows three children, all attributed to wife Hannah: Hannah b. 1661, John, b. 1689, David b. about 1691. Even without the Sudbury birth of John explicitly giving parents "John and Martha" (cited above), one would suspect he was wrong based on the gap between births. Despite being clearly wrong, it is seen many places (e.g., Source:Sumner, Edith Bartlett. Descendants of Thomas Farr of Harpswell, Maine and Ninety Allied Families, p. 29, 266; Source:Ward, Andrew Henshaw. Genealogical History of the Rice Family : Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice, p. 32: "No record has been found of their having had any children."). Source:Bartlett, J. Gardner. Gregory Stone Genealogy, p. 69, is one of the few correct sources, only attributing daughter Hannah to the first wife.
