  3.   Source:Hurd, D. Hamilton. History of Middlesex County, Massachusetts, with Biographical Sketches of Many of Its Pioneers and Prominent Men, p. 3:147, says Dr. John Allen left "one son (?) and five daughters". Source:Jackson, Francis. History of the Early Settlement of Newton, County of Middlesex, Massachusetts, from 1639 to 1800, p. 233, gives him Jerusha, John, Sarah, Mary, Martha, Ann. However, the dscription of Sarah (m. 1748 Rev. Jonathan Townsend) and Martha (m. 1752 Benjamin Carter) clearly indicate they are his sisters, not his daughters (since he himself didn't marry until 1746). It appears both sources made this same error. Jerusha (who m. Samuel Wheat) and John (who died in infancy) appear to be the only children found in the records. They are also the only children listed in Source:General Society of Mayflower Descendants. Mayflower Families through Five Generations, Vol. 22(William Bradford), p. 313.
