Rev'd Sam'll Reed Certifyeth that he hath Joined the following persons in the Marriage the year past - viz - ... Joab Grover & Lucy Fisher Sep't 1: 1784. [Also, Vol. 1, p. 126: Joab Grover of Whitehall in the County of Washington State of Newyork and Lucy fisher of Warwick intend Marriage May 16: 1794.]
↑Allred, pages 99 & 125, is unable to identify either participant in this marriage. Lucy Fisher, by age and location, would appear to be the daughter of Abijah Fisher and Mary Washburn. Joab Grover appears to be a son of Thomas Grover and Sarah Sherman. Source:Grover, Joel P. Ancestry and Genealogy of Thomas Grover, Born July, 1807, Whitehall, N.Y., Died Feb. 1886, Farmington, Utah, notes a Joab Grover lived in Whitehall in the 1800 census, age 26-45 with wife and 4 children, clearly too old to be the Joab Grover born in 1791 to Thomas Jr., so presumably his brother, a son of Thomas Sr. His birth is unrecorded. This source only credits Thomas Sr. with one son Thomas Jr, and while it wonders if Walter Grover of the 1800 census is another son of Thomas Sr., the same curiosity doesn't seem to be applied to Joab. However, the naming of a son Joab by Thomas Jr. makes it almost certain to be so.
