  2. It is tempting to think that the David Dean who died Jan 1746/47 belongs to this couple, given that the wife died in 1747. But she died 7 months later, so it is not obvious her death was related to a childbirth, and there is no birth record. Neither is there a death record for the David Dean born to Jeremiah Sr. in 1723. So there is nothing to indicate conclusively that the death belongs in this family (both Jeremiahs had wives named Mary and there is no Sr. or Jr. in the record). Source:Cooper, Marion Deane. Descendants of John Dean (1650-1727) of Dedham, Massachusetts, p. 25 and 35, uses the one death date for both David Deans, but that clearly is not correct. The author qualifies the death with a quoted comment "in childhood" for son of Jeremiah Jr. but no so qualifier is found for the son of Jeremiah Sr. that is, by all appearances, based on the same source (both cite DR 76), and that qualifier is not found in the published record on p. 76, nor in the handwritten one, and appears to be an embellishment without basis. It is not possible to rule out a David Dean in this family, but Cooper's book does not appear credible, and while the evidence is entirely compatible with just one, to postulate two requires assuming several missing records.
