Little is known about the wife of Jasper Leslie. Some say Eleanor/Elenor surname was Cooke, but so far no one has shown proof. It is also not known when they married and if their marriage took place before coming to Canada or after. The did give birth to 11 known children. If the first born was George in 1791, then we might surmise that Jasper and Eleanor were married at least 9 months before that and that would place the marriage being performed in Nova Scotia before 1791. Jasper arrived in Port Mouton in 1783. There is almost 6 years between when he arrived and when his first child, George, was born.
Also, f the first male born was George (1791) then he might have been named for Jasper's father and if so, it would help in researching the ancestry of Jasper. We now know that Jasper came from Philadelphia, so searching Passenger Lists and other early documents might turn up more of the family. References
