It would appear that James A. Yardley had two children: Clara Alta Yardley, born June 1888, and Alvin C. Yardley, born March 1890, both born in Illinois. Sometime between 1890 and 1900 his wife passed away. Clara Alta and Alvin C. were sent to Fannin County, Texas, where they were living in the house of Paulina Anderson at the time of the 1900 federal census. Paulina Anderson was listed as their grandmother. James Yardley continued to live in Illinois, boarding with other families.
