WILDE, Abigail and Dea. James Walker of Westminster, int. July 14, 1792.
- ↑ In the Princeton VRs, there is an intention of Silent Wilde of Shutebury and Wid. Abigal Osgood 11 Dec 1782. In the Westminster VRs, there is the marriage of David Wild and Abigail Osgood in Feb 1783. One might suspect that the two Wild(e0 men are really one and the same, especially since no other record of a David Wild(e) is found.
Silent Wild(e)'s probate shows that he married Abigail (Houghton) Osgood, the widow of Ephraim Osgood. Ephraim died in 1777 (Source:White, Almira Larkin. Genealogy of the Descendants of John White of Wenham and Lancaster, Massachusetts, p. 473, says 1787, but the Princeton VRs and probate file of Ephraim Osgood (Worcester 44522) refute that). Silent Wild(e) died in 1790 (Worcester Probate 65475). The settlement of the estate allowed some land to Abigail forever, and other land to revert if she remarried. So she owned land in addition the real estate of Ephraim Osgood. In 1822, the probate of Abigail Wildes was opened (Worcester Probate 65472). The accounting includes charges due to her son Ephraim Osgood for boarding her from 1814 to 22 Feb 1822. The land of Ephraim Osgood and Abigail Wildes is divided among her children and their heirs in 1824 (see Ephraim's probate).
Abigail (Houghton) (Osgood) Wilde was born in 1735, so certainly a suitable age for James Walker. And she would have been a widow in 1792 when the intentions were published. But it looks like she never married him. So either the two intentions cited above never turned into a marriage, or James Walker married a different widow Abigail Wilde who does not show up in the Princeton VRs except for the marriage record????
