  3. Apparently the compiler of the Welles genealogy erred in assigning James Treat's first marriage to one Prudence whose surname was unknown. The record they cite names the 1694 bride as Sarah, daughter of Ebenezer and Sarah (Talcott) Talcott. That Sarah appears to have been Captain Treat's only wife. No known children.
