He was a Justice in Bath County, in 1816 a nd was living in the section of Bath (former part of August a) that became a part of Pocahontas County, West. Virgini a (now West Virginia) in 1822. James was active in the org anization of Pocahontas, and he and eldest son, Benjamin (l ater Col. Benny Tallman of Tallmansville, Upshur Co. , Wes t Virginia) were name d two of the first seven justices. B enjamin was named Lt. Col. of the first County Militia ; an other son, Boone Tallman, was named a captain. Mrs. Boeche r was a descendant of Col. Benny Tallman. Mr. Ken Tallma n of Brea, California (now of San Jacento, California) i s a descendant of James' son, Boone Tallman. James marrie d second, in 1807, Jemima Gillespie.
