James Stockwell Jun. [of] Warwick Entered his Intentions of Marriage With Lydia Ball of s'd Warwick } Oct. 20th 1804.
Source:Allred, Marilyn. Town of Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts, Genealogical Records 1739-1900, Births, Marriages,, p. 267, adds an apparently fictitious child to this family: "Lydia, b. 1817, d. 2 Oct 1817". The family register found on Vol. 2, p. 206 of Warwick records shows the death of Lydia Stockwell, crammed on the end of the line showing the birth of her son James, with death date Oct 2 18??. There is no birth for Lydia, and the year does not look like 1817. The "Oct 2'd" suggests it is the death of the mother who died 2 Oct 1861, and 1861 looks far more like the unreadable year than 1817 does. There is no gravestone listed in Find A Grave for such a daughter, and the absence of a birth record suggests Allred created a fictitious daughter arising from misinterpreting the death year.
