- ↑ Ann is referred to as "daughter Ann married to James Fanning" in her father's 1778 will. Given Ann's birth about 1726, it seems likely the marriage was somewhere around 1750, but the earliest recorded child is the baptism of daughter Anne in 1760. Source:Stafford, Frederic Luther. James Fanning of Hopkinton, Mass lists Anne as the third child, but offers no birth estimate for older brother James, and for older brother Thomas suggests a range of 1755-1774, and has 1758 as the estimate for the fifth child, so offers nothing concrete.
